William Charles McCray was born in Marshall, Texas on January 23, 1953 to Willis Arch and Nettie Mae McCray. He recevied his education at the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas, graduating in 1971.

William loved spending time with family and friends. He was affectionately known as "Squirrel", "Little Charles", and most recently "Soapy" as a result of his three decades of service as a car detailer with Nehls Oldsmobile Chevrolet.

William departed this life on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his home in Marshall, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents and older brother, Leo McCray.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Angela of Longview, TX; two loving sisters, Willie Mae "Betty" (Johnny) Stephens of Marshall, TX and Willie Ruth King of Dallas, TX., numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of caring neighbors and friends.
