Funeral services for Shirley Ann Lane, 66, will be Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church and interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday, December 22, 2023, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home. Mrs. Lane was born February 27, 1957, in Marshall, Texas and died December 17, 2023.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Adams Lane was an extraordinary wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew her.

Shirley was born on February 27, 1957, in Marshall, Texas to Oscar Adams, Sr. and Annie Ruth Sheppard Adams. She was the knee baby of five children. She united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. E. B. Humble. She was a 1975 graduate of Marshall High School. In May of 1979, she was united in holy matrimony with James Lane and to this union, two children were born.

Shirley worked on several jobs and during this journey she never met a stranger. She worked at Monarch Tile and Darco for many years. She was also a caregiver. She loved her sons dearly, her granddaughter, her sisters and family with so much joy. She enjoyed arts and crafts, singing in the choir, watching football games, socializing with friends and scratching those lottery tickets. She enjoyed life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lane, Sr.; her parents, Oscar and Annie Ruth Adams; two brothers, Clarence Adams, Sr. and Oscar Adams, Jr. and sister-in-law, Annie Fisher.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, James Lane, Jr. (Crystal) and Jeremy Lane both of Marshall, TX; three sisters, Mary Adams, Dianne Gray (Claude) and VaShanda Fortman Jenkins; brother Caloridge Vasha Brown (Cheryl); mother-in-law, Ruth Ella Lane; brother-in-law, Danny Fisher; granddaughter, Chloe; sister-in-law, Rosalyn Jernigan; nine aunts, one uncle, one great uncle, one great aunt, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
