Otis C. Smith, Sr. of Avinger, Texas was recevied into the arms of our Lord on September 21, 2020.

Otis was born May 22, 1925 in Avinger, Cass County, Texas. At an early age, he joined the St. Paul Methodist Church in Lassaster, Texas. He retired from pulpwood but never from taking care of his family and community. His work ethics were boundless. Otis had a very kind and caring heart and was a great provider for his family.

On December 27, 1950, Otis was joined in Holy Matrimony with Miss Myrtrue Jones. They resided in Avinger, Texas. To this union, six children were born. He taught his children to treat people with kindness and respect, to be strong and independent and to reach for the stars.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

His memory will be cherished by his wife of 70 years, Myrtrue Smith of Avinger, Texas; his children, Travis (Marie) Ervin of Los Angeles, California, Delores Brown of Dallas, Texas, Gladys (Tony) Bryant of Mesquite, Texas,  Otis C. Smith, Jr. of Avinger, Texas, Marilyn (Dannie) Williams of Dallas, Texas, Tony (Debra) Smith of Lancaster, Texas, and Teddy Smith of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Johnnie and Bobbie Smith of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law, Eddie Brown, Sr.; a very special friend to the Smith family, Teresa Webb; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, five great, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
