Funeral services for Millie Lafaye Alford will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Powder Mill Cemetery. Viewing Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Lewis Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mrs. Millie Lafaye Smith Alford, daughter of Sarah Louise Smith from Osceola, Arkansas, was born June 30, 1946, in Driver, Arkansas. She was named after her grandmother. Millie was the third child of her siblings. She attended the public schools of Osceola, Arkansas graduating from Rosenwald High School in 1965. She was in various organizations in school: English Club, Tigress Track Team, Basketball Team and the Osceola Rosenwald Choir. Millie Attended Bethlehem Baptist Church of Osceola, where Rev. O. T. Williams was the pastor. She accepted the Lord as her Savior early in Life. Millie was a writer of beautiful poetry, an avid reader, a Mary Kay consultant, a healthcare worker caring for many people, and secretary of the True Baptist Church and the mission until the transition of life. She was married to Frederick James Alford and to this union four children were born. Millie was a devoted wife, mother, a lover of sports, independent and humorous. She gave love and was loved.  Millie was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Louise Smith; her favorite aunt, Virgie Washington; her brother, Harold Reeder; her sister-in-law, Virgie White; her sons, Rodney Napoleon Garrett and Lawrence James Christopher Alford; and her nephew, Harold Anthony Reeder. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Stephanie Rene Alford (Richard), Frederick Bernard Alford and Veronica Rochelle Alford (Conrad) all of Marshall, Texas; her grandchildren, Jovani Garrett, Dengelo Justice Garrett, Marcus Johnson, Steven Davis, Sierra Darthard, her namesake, Minuva Alford and Ariana Alford; siblings, Donel White of Canton, Georgia, Helen Jean Davis of Osceola, Arkansas, Larry Davis and Dwight Wimper both of Alexandria, Virginia and Valeria Wimper of Joliet, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Shron, Gregory, Jessica, Kevin, Larry, Jr., Nikita, Sinecar, Shavita and Shannick. Millie leaves a host of great grandchildren, cousins, others relatives and friends to cherish her legacy.
