Merrill Joe Anderson was born in Marshall, Texas to Erma Lucille and Moses Anderson on April 27, 1943. He joined Galilee Baptist Church at an early age where he served as an usher and sang in the choir.He later joined New Light Church in Houston, Texas.

Merrill was married to Carrie Jones Anderson, where four children were conceived, Merrill, Jr., Myron, Mignonne, and Monica Anderson.

Merrill had a special hobby of helping others far and near. He loved his church in Houston and would always, without anyone asking him, work in the yard at the church. Merrill Joe loved children. William, Tamera and Misty were his other children who he loved.

Merrill is survived by his mother, Erma L. Anderson of Marshall, TX; sister, Mosetta Wilson of Marshall, TX; many relatives and friends. He will be missed forever.

We all wanted to do our best with it; we all wanted to make the most of it; God knows just how much we can bear, but no power has passed, the years that have been numbered with the ages gone.

Merrill departed this life on Monday, May 11, 2020 and thank God for his many friends who he loved and who loved him: Hobart Davis, John Thompson, Johnny Nickerson and his favorite nieces, Errica, Jordan and Khalela; his grands Ann, Royce, Ollie and Callie; the Williams family, and so many other friends.
