Deacon Melvin Rougely was born September 28, 1935 to the union of Robert Rougely and Ella Bell Williams Rougely in Deadwood, Panola County, Texas.

He attended Turner High School in Carthage, Texas. At the age of 16 years old, he accepted Christ. He was an entrepreneur in the logging industry for over 60 years. He employed many of the men in his community.

Deacon Rougely was a member of William Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. for over 56 years under the leadership of the late James R. Williams, Sr. Later, he joined hands with the Victory Drive C.O.G.I.C. in Marshall, Texas where Teny Gilliam is the pastor. He was a member from 1991 to 2023 the present. Deacon Rougely was the Sunday School Superintendent, served on the district level in the Lotta District as one of the financial officers. He loved traveling with his wife, his family and his church family. He will certainly be dearly missed by all.

Deacon Melvin Rougely departed this life on March 29, 2023 at his home in Marshall, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ella Bell Rougely; 4 brothers, Billy Rougely, Troy Rougely, Joe Rougely and Ronnie Rougely; one sister, Annie Faye Brooks and one son, Randy Rougely.

Those he leave to cherish his memory: his wife of 41 years,, Beverly Ann Thomas Rougely; his children, Melvin L. Rougely of Jacksonville, AR., Kelvin (Debra) Rougely of Arlington, TX., Sandra Kay Rougely of Redlands, CA., Bobbie J. Rougely of Baytown, TX., Tammy L. Rougely (Ray Blum) of Houston, TX., Tracy R. (Eric) Banks of Chino, CA., LaShonda E. Thomas of Hallsville, TX., and LaTonya N. (Myron) Williams of Kingsland, GA.; siblings, Foster (Lois) Rougely of Deadwood, TX., Lois (Arthur) Mack of Deadwood, TX., Molly (Tony) Luton of Tyler, TX. and Frank Rougely of Deadwood, TX.; a special god grandson, Kelvin R. Maddox of Katy, TX.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
