Graveside services for Lawrence Hayes,80, will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Strickland Springs Cemetery in Waskom, TX. Interment will follow. All viewing will be done Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Home. from 1 to 6:00 p.m. Mr. Hayes was born October 1, 1944, in Elysian Fields, TX. and died January 14, 2025, in Shreveport, LA.

Deacon Lawrence Hayes was born October 1, 1944, in Waskom, Harrison County, Texas to the late J. D. Hayes and Ardella Jackson Hayes. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Strickland Spring Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member. He also became a deacon. He attended Booker T. Washington High School in Elysian Fields, Texas. After high school, he joined the United State Navy.

When he left the Navy, he got married to Olivia D. Coleman. He was a loving husband. Together, they had and raised 6 children. He was married to Olivia until her death September 21, 2019.

Eight siblings preceded him in death and two children, Diane Michelle Hall Parson and Wendell Hall, Jr. Deacon Hayes departed this life January 14, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Those left to cherish his memory his children, Jerry Lynn Hall, Pamela D. Hayes Washington, Ronnie L. Hayes and Sharon Lenessa Hayes Richardson, and Lena Mae Hayes; 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
