He was a Marshall High School graduate. He was a member of True Vine Baptist Church of Marshall, Texas. Lawrence was baptized by his grandfather, Rev. Calvin Alford. He was an honorary Deacon at True Vine, where he served faithfully. He sang in the choir, and he served the church in many roles faithfully. "HE LOVED THE LORD!!" "HE LOVED CHURCH." He never met a stranger! He served faithfully until his health declined. Lawrence loved antique cars. He went to antique car shows faithfully.

He was proceeded in death by his brother Rodney Garrett of Alexandria, Virginia, grandmother Sarah Louise Smith of Osceola, Arkansas, grandmother Roosevelt Alford, and grandfather Rev. Calvin Alford of Marshall, Texas and other relatives.

He leaves to his legacy: parents Frederick Alford (father), Millie rL. Alford (mother), Stephanie R. Alford (sister) Marshall, Texas.
