Katie Mae Gray, daughter of the late David and Mrs. Emma Smith-Dawson, was born October 22, 1946 in Hallsville, Harrison County, Texas. Katie received her education from the Hallsville Galillee High School where she was an honor student, a cheerleader and a member of the FHA.

On June 28, 1968, Katie was united in Holy Matrimony with George Gray, Sr. To this union, two children were born-Kathlene Lichell and George Bernard Jr.

Katie worked at Blue Buckle until the company closed. She then worked at Norit America until her retirement. Upon retiring, Katie moved to Mesquite, Texas. She became a member of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in 2006. Katie enjoyed studying God's Word and loved learning as much as she could about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She Attended Life on Life Women's Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Afterwards, she joined BSF (Bible Study Fellowship), where she focused on studying one book of the Bible at a time.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, David and Emma Dawson; husband, George Gray, Sr.; two sisters, Vicky Dawson and Velma Mae Roberson and two brothers, Donald Dawson and John Wayne Dawson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Kathlene Lichell (Kenneth) Washington of Rockwall, Texas; one son, George Bernard Gray, Jr. of Mesquite, Texas; one sister, Glenda Dawson of Hallsville, Texas; six brothers, David (Tamela) Dawson, Jr., and Elliot Dawson both of Hallsville, Texas, John Dawson, Raymond Dawson, Sidney Dawson all of Marshall, Texas and Kent (Linda) Dawson of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Geonna Brenae Gray, Iveon Lashell Gray, Jiveon Renae Gray, Kristopher Say-Ray Washington and Gabrielle Latrice Gray; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
