John Lewis Jefferson was born June 22, 1968 to John Henry Tanghlyn and Ella Mae Jefferson in Marshall, Texas.

He graduated from Marshall High School in 1986. He worked at American National, General Cable, Willoughby, and Republic Industries.

John married Monica Mobley on June 26, 1998.

He enjoyed his family and friends, playing dominoes, and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.
