Henderson "Lil Son" Okray, Jr. was born to the late Henderson Okray, Sr. and Effie Lee Abram-Hill in Greenwood, Louisiana, on September 9, 1932. He attended public schools in Greenwood. At an early age, he confessed Christ and joined the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until he moved to Dallas, TX. For four years, Henderson served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. When he returned from his tour of duty as a military man, he pursued a degree in business. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and relaxing with his family and friends.

Preceding Henderson in death are his parents; four children, Linda Okray-Hill, twin (Brenda), Daniel Okray, and Mark Okray; one sister, Maggie Adaway; and four brothers, William Okray, Billy Ray Okray, Richard Okray, and LeDell Okray. To cherish his memory as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, he leaves the following: the love of his life, Ruth D. Haynes who faithfully loved, nurtured, and cared for him for 61 years; their two children, Eddie Ray Haynes and Ladonia (Jerry) Scott of Dallas; one son, Ronnie (Kathy) Okray of Dallas; six sisters, Clara Mae (Kenny) Polk of Dallas, Sheila Okray of Longview, TX, Teresa (Daniel) Blair of Palestine, TX, Gloria Okray-Lewis, Debbie Okray, and Lizzie (Arthur) Medford of Henderson, TX; and two brothers Charles Okray of Kilgore, TX and Bobby Okray of Henderson, TX; nine grandchildren, LaJerrette Childress, Nina Johnson, Lavetta Eldridge, Tre' Hills, Daniel Wayne Okray Jr., Randi Okray, Anthony Eldridge (Brittany), Valorie Okray, and Jamal Okray; and a host of great grandchildren nieces, and nephews who loved and respected him dearly.
