Funeral services for Mrs. Freda Faye Mitchell, 70, will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, in the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be Friday, February 14, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. and visitation from 6 to 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Mitchell was born August 28, 1954, in Dallas, TX and died in Marshall, TX January 30, 2025.

The meaning of a name can be a powerful thing. The name FREDA means peaceful ruler which is what she's been to us. RENITIA means king even though she is a woman. She was truly of royalty. MITCHELL is of Hebrew origan it means who is like God. Freda, our mother, and wife was truly a God, fearing woman. She was the best and she lived out her name. Freda will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Freda Renitia Gooch Mitchell was born August 28, 1954, in Dallas. Texas to Randolph Gooch, Sr. and Elsie Faye Barrier Gooch.

In 1973, Freda Gooch met and married the love of her life, Linard Mitchell. He shared a wonderful life with her for 52 years even unto death. She loved her family and all the people that she met.

Freda Renitia Gooch departed this life January 30, 2025, surrounded by family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 52 years, Linard Mitchell; two children, Angela Mitchell and Marcus Mitchell; two brothers, Oswald Gooch and Andre Gooch; one sister, Louise Mitchell; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
