No mother should outlive her child; that is not how things were meant to be. Although I do not understand, I know God has set you free. I am trying not to be angry, but I want to scream and shout! God grant me serenity, for I feel as my heart has been ripped out! Life appears to go in slow motion and seems numb since you are not here! God has all the answers, remember I taught you that, my dear! My minds reflect on special things; the times we spent together. Emmitt Lewis Cox was born to the parents of Cozetta Mack Cox and the late Frank Cox on January 28, 1962. He was the tenth child born to this union. Emmitt attended Marshall Public Schools and was a 1980, TX, Barbara C graduate of Marshall High School. He was a member of the St. John Baptist Church ans served formerly on the junior usher board, and he was active in the choir. Emmitt worked various jobs including, Marshall Tile, as well as the Fly and Fish Lodge. Also, he worked as an Electrician Apprentice under the late Deacon Oscar Walker. Emmitt departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 8, 2019. He is preceded in death by his father, the late Frank Cox.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Mother, Cozetta Coz of Marshall, TX; eleven sisters Luevenia (Raymond) Coats of Cedar Hill, TX, Shirley (Hayward) Truby of Houston,TX, Barbara Cox Jones and Nicole Cox Horn both of Tyler, TX, Corena Williams of Gladewater TX, Betty Clinton of Longview, TX, Georgia (Lonzo) Jones, Mary Johnson Doretha (Rickey) Frazier, Sonya (Vennis)Boyd, Hattie Cox all of Marshall, TX; five brothers Franklin Cox of Dallas, TX, Chyarles Cox of Longview, TX, John L. (Donna) Cox, Willie Dell Cox, and Billy Cox all of Marshall, TX and a number of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
