Dorothy Fields was born to the late Lela Mae Thomas Holmes and Anderson Holmes, Sr. on September 2, 1948 in Waskom, Texas. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, four sisters, three brothers and her son. Dorothy went to rest in the arms of the Lord and Savior on June 23, 2023 in her sleep.

Dorothy grew up in Waskom, Texas where she received her education at Cary M. Abney High School in 1963. She fell in love and married her childhood best friend, the late Deacon McHenry Fields. She later moved to Dallas where she had one son and two daughters: Perry Fields, Carla Fields Randolph and LaKeshia Fields.

Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Baptist Church of Waskom, Texas. Dorothy was a God-fearing woman and always remained active in church. She was united with many church homes throughout he life. While married, she was a member of Strickland Springs Baptist church. Prior to McHenry's passing, she rejoined New Boggy Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess and served on several boards, The Hospitality Ministry, Women's Ministry, Choir, Bible Study and Sunday School. With her health declining, she moved back to Dallas where she joined Riverside Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas where she remained a faithful disciple until the Lord called her home.

Dorothy was so full of life and was always a helping hand to anyone she came across. She helped raise and minister to many children and people because she knew what God called her to do.

Dorothy leaves her memories of love to her children, Carla Fields Randolph of Mesquite, TX, LaKeshia Fields Nixon of Dallas, TX; her sister, Mary (Robert) Rowe of Karnack, TX; her brothers, McHurrie Holmes and Anderson Holmes, Jr. of Waskom, TX; seven grandchildren, Damion Watters, Ke'Breanna Taylor, Ashley Randolph, Cameron Story, Faith Fields, Malayia and Shamiya Nixon; seven great grandchildren, Elijah, Keby, Kimiyon, Josiah, Issac, Madison and Messiah; a special sister, Willie Mae Fields; a special niece, Ann Evans and a host of many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
