Cornelius Winkfield Broadnax was born to the parentage of the late Eli Winkfield and the late Alberta Woods on August 15, 1925 in Marshall, Texas. She attended school in Harrison County.

She recevied Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Pine Bluff Baptist Church. She was a lead singer in the choir. When she relocated to Dallas, TX., she joined New Morning Star Baptist Church under the tutelage of Rev.Walter Bookman. She a was member there until she was no longer able to attend. She loved to sing, garden and was a great cook.

She married Raymond Broadnax and to this union eight children were born. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband, brother, Clarence Winkfield, sister, Sherman Lee Broadnax and one son, Raymond Broadnax, Jr.

She is survived by five daughters: Annie Mae (Charles) Brightmon, Ruby Williams, Flodine McDavid, Pearlean Broadnax and Berda (Freeman) Venerable; two sons: Jerry Louis Broadnax and Curtis Broadnax; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. She was well-loved by everyone because she was kind and generous to all that she met.
