The celebration of life for Billy Joe Jordan, 76, will be held, Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church,1500 S. Martin Street, Marshall, Texas, 75670 at 12:00 noon. Viewing Friday, October 6, 2023, from 2 to 6 and visitation will be from 6 to 7.

On June 14, 1947, Ruth Lee Jordan became the proud parent of Billy Joe Jordan. At an early age, he accepted Christ and united with Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years holding the positions of Superintendent of Sunday School and Chairman of the Deacon Board. Billy loved Oak Grove and one of his biggest accomplishments in life was being able to help build a new church. Later in life, Billy united with the St. Mark Baptist Church where he continued serving faithfully and praying for his family, friends, loved ones and strangers alike.

Billy was a graduate of H. B. Pemberton "Class of 1966". He acquired many skills and jobs during his lifetime. Some of the places he worked included Marshall Memorial Hospital, Eastman Chemical Company from which he retired after 32 years, BancorpSouth Bank, Austin Bank, also owned and operated several businesses including Jordan Janitorial Services and in 1994, he entered into partnership with Lewis Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Mrs. Ruth Lee Jordan; son, Ronald Charles McCowan; daughter, Tonya R. Williams; sisters, Dorothy Marie Jordan and Patsy Beasley; and brothers, William Jordan, Jerry Jordan, Sr., Larry Boykins, Kenneth Ray Boykins and Rip Donell Boykins.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of many years, Tonya Davis Jordan; three exceptional children, Kimberla (Dale) Gagum, Roderick (Am'Breshia) Davis, and Tylar; three brothers, Robert (Lois) Jordan, Charles (Vanessa) Jordan and Willie James Boykins; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a village of loved ones, family members and friends whom he loved and will forever watch over.
