Funeral services for Annie Ruth Rodgers, 94, will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Canaan Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Canaan Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday, July 11, 2025, from 1 to 5:00 p.m. and Visitation from 6 to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home. Mrs. Rodgers was born June 5, 1931, in Marshall, TX. and died June 26, 2025.

Mrs. Annie Ruth Green Rodgers was born on June 5, 1931, in Marshall, Texas, to the late Mr. General Green and the late Mrs. Pearl Washington Green. Annie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Zion United Methodist Church, later attending Canaan Baptist Church. She was educated in the Marshall Public Schools and dedicated many years of her life to service. She worked at Willoughby Juvenile Center as a Service Assistant for 20 years and later continued her commitment to helping others at Sabine Valley MHMR as a Unit Support Worker for 15 years. After retiring, Annie Ruth devoted her time to her family, to whom she was deeply dedicated and lovingly committed. She was preceded in death by her father, General Green, mother, Pearl Washington Green. Brothers, Alvin Green, Melvin Green, Johnny Green, and Rev. Reubin Green; sister, Luellar Johnson, and her beloved children, Ronald Charles Rodgers, Phyllis Lennette Rodgers, Johnny Ray Rodgers and Willie Ruth Rodgers Wilmer. Annie Ruth 's memory will be cherished by her loving daughter, Marilyn Rodgers Fontenot of Marshall, Texas; two sons, Melvin Ray Rodgers II of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, and Milton (Regina) Rodgers of Longview, Texas; and her devoted son-in-law, Leo Wilmer of Houston, Texas. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Shamekia Fontenot, Sharelle Fontenot, LaShundra Rodges, and LaTonya Williamson; ten great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever remember her kind spirit and unwavering love.
